Endovascular Therapy

个性化癌症护理 - Personalized Cancer Care

Endosvascular therapy is a specialized treatment offered by Taqtik through several different service providers. The procedure is performed by inserting a small catheter into the femoral artery in the thigh, without directly cutting the body. Then, a small dose of anticancer medication is administered to the affected area in a relatively painless process. The side effects of the anticancer drugs are usually minor. As the surgery takes some time to complete, it may take 2 to 3 days for the effectiveness of the treatment to be observed.

How Endosvascular Therapy Works

  1. Upon arrival, imaging diagnostics will be performed. CT and MRI scans are used to accurately visualize the blood vessels leading to the lesion. These imaging examinations are conducted on an outpatient basis. Advanced imaging techniques allow for three-dimensional imaging of the vessels, tumor blood supply, and tumor shape. The duration of the imaging procedure is approximately 15 minutes.
  2. Treatment - In the treatment room, local anesthesia is primarily administered to the sole of the foot. From there, a catheter is inserted into the main artery. A microcatheter with a diameter of approximately 1 millimeter is inserted into the catheter and advanced to the target artery. Subsequently, a CT scan is performed to confirm the optimal positioning of the microcatheter tip. Medication is then injected through the microcatheter, followed by embolization to stop the blood flow to the tumor. The average treatment time is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
  3. Post-Treatment - After the treatment, rest in bed for 3 hours and then you will be able to walk. Hospitalization is usually required for 1 or 2 days following the surgery. Possible complications - Complications can occur as a result of catheter manipulation, anticancer drugs, embolization, or individual reactions. Generally, complications are not common, but they can vary from person to person. Many individuals experience improvement during a hospital stay of 3 to 4 days, but a mild fever may persist for about a week. It is recommended to rest at home for 10 days.
  4. Follow-up at Home - Approximately one month later, you will have an outpatient follow-up. We will assess the treatment outcome and determine future treatment strategies.

Advantages of Endovascular Therapy:

  1. Minimally Invasive: Endovascular therapy is a minimally invasive procedure that does not require direct surgical incisions. It is performed through small incisions or punctures in blood vessels, reducing the need for extensive surgery and promoting faster recovery.
  2. Targeted Treatment: The therapy allows for precise targeting of the affected area. By accessing the blood vessels directly, the treatment can be delivered directly to the site of the disease, maximizing its effectiveness.
  3. Reduced Risks: Compared to traditional open surgeries, endovascular therapy carries lower risks of complications, such as infection and excessive bleeding, as it avoids major surgical interventions.
  4. Shorter Hospital Stay: Endovascular procedures often involve shorter hospital stays compared to traditional surgeries, as they are less invasive and require less recovery time.
  5. Quicker Recovery: Patients undergoing endovascular therapy generally experience faster recovery times, allowing them to resume their normal activities sooner.
  6. Less Scarring: The use of small incisions or punctures during endovascular procedures results in minimal scarring, contributing to improved cosmetic outcomes.

However, it is important to note that not all types of cancer can be treated with endovascular therapy. The suitability of these treatments depends on the type and stage of cancer, the patient's overall health condition, and other considerations. As always, treatment decisions should be made in consultation with healthcare professionals.
